At the beginning of 2017 we celebrated 40 years, reopening in 1977, although initially, there had been a branch in Market Drayton before 1900.
Girls from the age of 5 years are welcome to our meetings on Thursday evenings in Term Time (Juniors 5 - 10 years & Seniors 11 plus), for separate sessions, in the Parish Rooms.
All the girls are encouraged take part in a number of crafts and physical activities. Christian friendship is encouraged, reminding everyone of our G.F.S. Motto, “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ.” Termly themes are linked with Christian teachings. For example, ‘Journeys’; (the Magi and Baboushka, the Good Samaritan, and Jesus’ Palm Sunday journey and other themes have inspired us in the crafts and activities at our meetings.
On special occasions such as Enrolments, girls and their families join us in church.
Some GFS girls and their families are part of our Messy Church congregation and we were happy to celebrate two messy baptisms for GFS girls.
Fun Days and Activity Weekends are also enjoyed, linking up with other branches in the Midlands Area.
GFS encourages personal and spiritual development in a safe environment through fun filled activities.
